Multicultural and / or Non English Speaking Persons

Banksia Palliative Care Service Inc.

How can Banksia assist Non-English speaking clients and families?

Banksia’s clients come from many different nationality backgrounds.  The north east suburbs population is recognised for having a high multi cultural component.

When contacted by multi cultural clients and families, the staff of Banksia ensure professional interpreters are available, when required.

In 2007, Banksia undertook an innovative project, funded by the Federal Government, to implement initiatives to improve its communication and links with Non-English speaking groups within its catchment area.

One of the initiatives Banksia developed was the implementation of multi-lingual information brochures, as a stepping stone to enhancing future partnerships with multi cultural communities.  Banksia’s brochures are printed in 13 different languages.
