Staying Safe During Bushfire Season

During Bushfire Season, Banksia takes additional precautions to ensure the safety of the staff and of the community who rely on our service. We are guided by the recommendations and directions of Victoria’s Country Fire Association (CFA) and the associated websites, which we check daily – we strongly suggest that you do the same.

On days of Extreme/Catastrophic fire ratings we may need to reschedule your appointment. We will get in touch on the day to inform you if this is the case.

Vulnerable Persons

The Department of Health & Human Services and Victoria Police have developed a Vulnerable Persons Register to assist vulnerable people in adverse weather emergency situations.

If you think this could be you or someone you care for, please consider the following questions:

  • Are you frail, and/or physically and/or cognitively impaired?
  • Are you unable to comprehend warnings or directions and/or respond to an emergency?
  • Can you identify a person or community support person/group who would assist you in the environmental emergency?

If you answered ‘yes’ to the first two questions, and ‘no’ to the third question, please call Banksia palliative Care on (03) 9455 0822 to find out how we can support you.
